Comparing Chefs Plate with other ready-to-cook services.
Chefs Plate was founded at the end of 2014 in Toronto. Patrick Meyer and Jamie Shea, both co-founders, were inspired by the many companies in the United States offering a meal kit delivery service. Like many of the ready to cook meal services, they deliver fresh ingredients in a refrigerated box. The recipe cards are included in the box as well, and are complete with illustrations for each step to prepare your meal. Originally, Chefs Plate only delivered to the Toronto area, but the company slowly expanded its delivery territory to all of Ontario. Today, Chefs Plate delivers across Canada (Ontario, British Colombia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Québec, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New-Brunswick and Manitoba).

How Chefs Plate works
The first step to receive a Chefs Plate box is to subscribe to it. The least expensive plan (2 meals for 2 people) starts at $50 (includes a $6 delivery fee). Then, each week, you must select your meals in the menu. All ingredients to cook these meals are sent out in a refrigerated box with the recipe cards needed to cook them. The box is then delivered to your home. If you are not home when the delivery the box is left at the door.
A bit of history of Chefs Plate
Chefs Plate was founded in 2014 by Patrick Meyer and Jamie Shea. In the first few months, Chefs Plate only delivered in the Toronto area. They then expanded to almost all other Canadian provinces. In September 2016, Chefs Plate announced they had secured a 6-million-dollar investment in a round of funding led by Acton Capital Partners, a German investor’s fund. The company then disclosed they were delivering approximately 100 000 meals per month. After the round of financing, Chefs Plate opened a distribution center in Western Canada which enabled them to deliver to the Vancouver region.

This site is a Cook It ™ initiative to provide a comparison of the various ready-to-cook services. All data compiled in the table comes directly from government registers and COOK IT ™, GOODFOOD ™, CHEF’S PLATE ™ and MISSFRESH ™ business registers. In order to allow a detailed analysis, we selected 19 criteria of 100% quantitative comparison, that is to say based on data that can be verified at any time. The package of 3 selected recipes, being the best-selling product in the industry, was chosen for price comparison. Companies are ranked, from left to right, in order of foundation, then alphabetical in case of equality. If you notice an error, or wish to add a comparison criterion, please contact us as soon as possible at info@comparaisonpretacuisiner.ca.
